With the previous complete model change, the BMW 5 Series has adopted a sporty design and is expected to be even sportier in the next generation. The designers are expected to retain the well-known features such as a short front overhang, a long hood, a set-back passenger compartment, a straight edge, and the Hofmeister kink.
The front end could become more bullish with a shark-like nose, thanks to a new kidney grille with an aggressively protruding upper part and new, distinctly contoured headlights inspired by the G42 2 Series.
The low roofline would flow smoothly into the rear, giving the car a familiar silhouette. The taillights may be designed to be slimmer and sharper, enhancing the sportiness. The renderings in this story, the work of experienced illustrator perfectly depict these speculations.
Interior
The interior is expected to be an evolution of the seventh generation of the 5 Series. Expect the BMW 5 Series 2023 to borrow some new equipment from the Bimmers unveiled this year and coming next year.
The biggest change for technically savvy internal customers
will likely be the introduction of the new generation of BMW iDrive, running on
the BMW Operating System 8. Unofficially called BMW iDrive 8, the new system
reduces buttons and switches by almost half.
It boasts a novel GUI, which enhances its appeal. Additionally, an advanced language assistant with natural conversational ability, user profiles (BMW ID), BMW Digital Key Plus with Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radio technology, cloud-based BMW Maps, and OTA updates are also integral to iDrive 8.
In addition to the less physical control elements of the center console, the BMW Curved Display should contribute to the clean, minimalist design of the cockpit.
It is a curved screen that merges the driver information display and control display into a single unit. These displays measure up to 12.3 and 14.9 inches. The BMW Curved Display, initially integrated into the BMW iX and then the BMW i4, will soon also integrate the climate control elements.
Specifications
The 2023 BMW 5 Series will likely sit on an updated version
of the CLAR platform. It will likely have a higher degree of electrification.
Expect more plug-in hybrid variants in the next-generation model.
