- Ford Super Duty 2023: Pricing & Availability
The Ford Super Duty 2023 is entirely new and marks the fifth generation of the brand's iconic workhorse. It starts with a new facade featuring the characteristic C-shaped LED headlights, as seen on the F-150 and Maverick, while most of the updates focus on additional power under the hood and chic new technology. Ford has not yet released information on horsepower, torque, or towing capacity. However, Ford promises that all engines will offer class-leading values.
The previous Super Duty's 6.2-liter V8 base engine has been replaced by a stronger 6.8-liter V8 engine that delivers more torque at lower rpm to "facilitate starting on steep slopes and merging onto highways," according to Ford. The 7.3-liter V8 engine features a redesigned air intake, which Ford claims delivers the highest power and torque in its class.
Ford adds that the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8 now has
longer oil change intervals, but what really caught our attention is a
brand-new, high-performance version of the 6.7-liter V8 diesel engine. Ford
claims that the hot-rod diesel, with a new turbocharger, updated exhaust
manifolds, and a tailored ECU tune, has the highest horsepower and torque
ratings. All-wheel drive is standard from the XLT trim, and all engine variants
come with a 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission as standard.
Updated towing technologies
Having more torque to move mountains is one thing, but safe towing is another. According to Ford, more than 96 percent of heavy-duty pickup owners use their vehicles to tow large loads. That's why Ford has equipped the 2023 Super Duty with sophisticated towing assistance systems. "Our goal was to make sure that the driver has no blind spots even when towing the longest trailers," said Andrew Kernahan, Chief Engineer of the Ford Super Duty 2023. "Hooking up and towing has never been easier.
The latest Ford Super Duty features a 360-degree trailer camera that provides an overhead view of the trailer to avoid blind spots while driving or maneuvering. Additionally, there is an attachable blind-spot information system for fifth-wheel or gooseneck trailers. Meanwhile, the onboard scale can estimate the weight of the load in real-time and display the remaining capacity on the central touchscreen, taillights, or through the FordPass app.
Other notable features include the rearview camera and sensing system for lowering the tailgate, the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist (which automatically backs up the truck and aligns the trailer hitch ball to the trailer's socket), and a new feature for trailer navigation that determines the quickest and safest routes based on the trailer's dimensions and weight.
Safety comes first
The Ford Super Duty 2023 has a range of top-notch safety features and advanced driver assistance systems. It features a full-color head-up display (HUD), intelligent adaptive cruise control, lane centering, a theft alarm for trailers, front and rear sensors, and front and rear brake assist. With the new "Fleet Start Inhibit" feature, Ford Pro customers can set time windows for fleet operations.

The new Ford Super Duty is the first pickup with 5G capability, using the AT&T 5G network and a Qualcomm Technologies 5G modem. The system enables Wi-Fi connectivity for up to 10 devices, providing excellent connectivity for work and leisure. Of course, 5G connectivity means that over-the-air updates are standard to optimize the truck with software enhancements during its useful life.
Seven grille designs
Ford wanted to differentiate the individual trim levels of the Super Duty 2023 and, therefore, developed no fewer than seven new grille designs to make each truck unique. In addition, LED headlights are available for all models. We are pleased that the side vents are not just a design measure, as they improve the vehicle's aerodynamic resistance by reducing the air pressure in the engine compartment.
In an effort to differentiate the various trims of the 2023 Super Duty from each other, Ford has developed no less than seven new grille designs to make each truck unique. Additionally, LED headlights are available for all models. We are pleased to note that the side vents are not merely a cosmetic measure, as they improve the vehicle's aerodynamic performance by reducing air pressure in the engine compartment.
Furthermore, Ford offers the STX, Sport, and Black packages
with different paint, wheel, and equipment combinations to give the vehicle an
individual touch. New for 2023 is the XL Off-Road package for the F-250 and
F-350, which includes 33-inch off-road tires, axle ventilation tubes, underbody
protection, an elevated air dam, and an electronically locking rear
differential. The Tremor Off-Road package, on the other hand, offers a
custom-tuned suspension (with a raised front end), a Dana front axle with LSD
and ventilation tubes, 18-inch wheels with 35-inch Goodyear tires, and
selectable driving modes.
Infotainment
Inside, the new Super Duty features an eight-inch infotainment screen (XL) and a 12-inch display, which is available for higher-end models. Standard equipment includes a digital 12-inch gauge cluster, four USB ports, Ford's Max Recline seats, a 640-watt Bang & Olufsen audio system with eight speakers (a B&O premium audio system with 18 speakers is available), and Alexa connectivity.
